Spam warning

With the holidays many spammers are sending out emails promoting free gift cards. In life nothing is free, something that you should teach your children. To prove my point I signed up for a outback Steak House by one get one free dinner special and was automatically added to a Victoria Secret spam campaign. When I tried to un subscribe I followed the link in the email

which then required me to give my email address and as expected it started yet another spam campaign.

I then went to Victoria Secret to let them know about what was happening and you can see how wide spread the problem is if they are posting the following warning on their site:

From their website:
Fraudulent EmailChain letters and other types of e-mail that promise free products or gift certificates from Victoria’s Secret are not legitimate. Victoria’s Secret is not in any way behind the creation or distribution of these messages. If you receive this type of message, please delete it immediately and do not forward it to others. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these fraudulent solicitations.

My recomendation is, do not sign up for free offers, if it is too good to be true is usually is.

Peter
